Verified Carbon Credits Under the Diamond Standard
Marillion is a registered Diamond Standard carbon credit operator. Each village generates approximately 247.5 Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) per year through the displacement of firewood combustion with solar and biogas energy.
Carbon Calculation — Per Village

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
SDG 1: No Poverty
Farmer income uplift through improved grades, fertiliser savings, stalk payments
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
Digestate fertiliser improves soil fertility and food crop yields
SDG 7: Clean Energy
Biogas and solar replace firewood; surplus electricity to communities
SDG 8: Decent Work
1,700+ permanent jobs; fair wage policy; 40% female employment target
SDG 13: Climate Action
180,000 tCO₂e/year avoided; Diamond Standard carbon credits

What Farmers Gain
Stalk Payments
$200/ha/year for tobacco stalk delivery — additional cash income from waste
Free Fertiliser
Digestate from biogas replaces costly chemical fertiliser — saving $200–$400/year
Better Grades
Consistent automated curing improves tobacco grade by 8–12% — higher prices at auction
Per-Hectare Income — With Marillion
~$1,460 net +37% increase
After the $1.60/kg curing fee
~$1,065
Without Marillion
